Fundraising tips

Step 1 – Customise your iDonate fundraising page

Pages with a personal touch raise more money, so upload a profile picture, tell your story, explain why you want to support Galway Simon, and how you will be preparing for this year’s Virtual Sleep Out. Update your supporters on how you are getting on, how close you are to your target, where you will be sleeping on the night, or just saying thanks for all their help will keep them engaged with your story and fundraising.

You can even manage your profile from your phone using their brand new mobile App. Download the App on Google Play or the Apple Store and get instant notifications of donations. You can also quickly thank your supporters, post updates, and keep your page details up to date.

Step 2 – Reach out to friends and family

Share your iDonate link wherever, and whenever you can; use Social Media platforms, WhatsApp, email, your local supermarket, and even your work canteen.

If you’re looking for ways to boost your fundraising offline, please get in touch to request a sponsorship card at sleepout@galwaysimon.ie or by calling 091 381828.

Step 3 – Grow your team!

Invite people to join you! Why not reach out to family or friends living abroad to take part with you? Challenge your neighbours to get involved, create a hashtag with your street name and invite neighbours to join in and share photos on social media. You could even hold a competition between friends or colleagues on who can raise the most funds or recruit the most team members!

Step 4 – Get creative with your fundraising activities

Why not organise a unique fundraiser like a virtual coffee morning, or an online challenge, bake buns for every person who donates within a certain time frame, or pledge to shave your beard or colour your hair once you raise a certain amount? When it comes to fundraising ideas, the sky is the limit! And we’re here to help; if you’re looking for inspiration or would like to talk through an idea, please get in touch at sleepout@galwaysimon.ie or by calling a member of the fundraising team on 091 381828.
